An investigation into the spread of dangerous pathogens in our meat — particularly poultry — and the challenges facing the food-safety system in stopping the threat. (Aired 2015) This journalism is made possible by viewers like you. Support your local PBS station here: 🤍🤍pbs.org/donate. In FRONTLINE’s “The Trouble with Chicken,” correspondent David E. Hoffman investigates how and why the standards and laws around Salmonella have failed to keep up with the increasing danger posed by some strains of the bacteria. The film looks closely at one of the largest Salmonella poultry outbreaks on record, when chicken from Foster Farms sickened more than 600 people over 16 months. Delving into the complex world of food safety, the investigation reveals a seeming contradiction: even though hundreds of people were falling ill, Foster Farms was still meeting the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) standards for Salmonella contamination. OMG, USA and food safety. So sad,
"his credit card showed that he'd been to the supermarket just before getting sick where he'd purchased two packs of foster farms chicken"
* that's why cash and that's why NO to cashless society *
the foods i see americans eat on tv,they have very weird names, come to africa and just ask us those names we just know simple names like bread, maize, beans, all natural names but you guys have lezanya,i dont know the spelling, all your foods are now processed and they have no natural name exept salad
The USDA, CDC, the FAA and many other facets of the Fed are merely a "feel good" for us. Take Vilsack in this video... the timing of this report was done while OBama was prez. Fast forward to mid 2022, can you guess who again heads the USDA/ Tom Vilsack. The system is rigged and as long as Big Ag, Big Oil as well as the MIC controls it all.... well good luck.
This shit makes me wanna go vegan
I'll sum up this overly long documentry, The meat & poultry industries didn't want to lose money so they allowed the salmonella outbreak to happen because they didn't want to lose money. Sounds like most industries.
If yall just cook your damn chicken, youd be alrght
A third world problem, in a third world country.
I love the PROPAGANDA HEADLINE OF THIS VIDEO.... The trouble with chicken. Lmfao rofl 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Respect for Cargill. Nobody puts morality and safety before profits. Cargill is Godly for that.
30 years later and i still associate Jack in the box with E-coli
It's literally the first thing i think of when i see a Jack in the box.
Trump dismantled the FDA and fired all the inspectors. He said the industry would police itself. lol
for years (late teens thru early 30 ) all i ate was chicken, turkey or fish. then i married and started eating beef and pork too because thats what my wife ate and i wanted to cook meals she would like. but about .. 2014 i stopped eating chicken. its gross, i was sick of trimming off fat and left with half of what i started with. add broken blood vessels and the rise of the frankenstein chicken completely turned me off of chicken. i will never eat that nasty shit again. from its presentation, to its smell to all the nasty shit you have to trim out. for awhile i ate it at restaurants but recently i even stopped eatng it there because im sick of mouthfuls of fat. and its too bad too because chicken is so versatile. leave it to capitalism to completely and utterly destroy everything in the name of profits.
Thank you so much for this video!
Treat every gun like it's loaded and treat all poultry like it has salmonella, cook it thoroughly and be aware of cross contamination. This goes for a lot of our food products.
Prayers Amen 🙏.
Maybe if we did not torture our chickens and make them live in fecal hell, things could be better. Stressed , miserable birds are sick or carrying birds. So much corruption!
Just some black space for your eyes!
Sleep tight :)
How to make a documentary... Find the most sympathetic example of the worst case scenario.... thread it throughout the documentary so that it's a TRAGEDY. Then count every bad thing in numeric terms instead of relative terms. Then blame faceless organizations and demand change.
Here's an alternative documentary... Stop making chicken in America and replace it with expensive beef... 4 million people starve... and the next documentary is about how beef is bad... stop making beef. and make every vegetarian.... the next documentary is how corn is killing everyone with obesity. stop making corn and feed everyone wheat... the next documentary is about how the wheat beetle is destroying the wheat fields... everyone starves. All because little Timmy's soccer ball sits unused in the yard because he died of salmonella.
