►Check out my list of 50 incredible Indonesian foods: 🤍 ►Ken's channel: 🤍 During my trip to Jakarta, I mostly remained in the city. But Ken and Gratiana from 🤍 invited my wife Ying and I to go with them and their family on an Indonesian food trip to Bogor and the surrounding region (about an hour from Jakarta). Our first stop when we drove out of Jakarta and to Bogor was a famous place to eat Bogor style laksa at a restaurant called Laksa Bogor Pak Inin. It was exactly my kind of a restaurant, open air and local, with a wonderful friendly environment. The laksa was unlike any other laksa I’ve ever had, and it was fantastic. Laksa Bogor - 10,000 IDR ($0.72) Next, we stopped at a place called Toge Goreng Pak Abung, which is another legendary Indonesian food stop in Bogor, Indonesia, and they are famous for serving a bean sprout snack. It was definitely a very interesting dish, including a mixture of bean sprouts and fermented soy beans. Toge Goreng - 7,000 IDR ($0.51) Next we drove into the beautiful Indonesian countryside and to the house. After having some Indonesian snacks and refreshing coconut, we then took a hike to go look for honey. The beekeeper was sick on the day we went, so we we’re able to get any honey, but it was still a beautiful hike. The highlight of this Indonesian food trip for me was the Sundanese style Nasi Liwet Botram family feast that we had. All the food was laid out on banana leaves, and we all sat and ate some of the most beautiful and flavorful Indonesian food. It was an incredible culinary experience. We drove back to Bogor and stopped at Warung Nasi Ampera to eat a quick dinner, and because I wanted to try some ikan pepes. The food was alright, but nothing compared to the lunch feast we had eaten! Total price - 103,000 IDR ($7.46) for 3 plates of food Finally, back in Jakarta, we stopped near Manga Besar to have some desserts and to finish of this incredible day of Indonesian food. Sekoteng - 12,000 IDR ($0.87), Wedang Ronde - 12,000 IDR ($0.87) It was an incredible Indonesian food trip to the outskirts of Bogor, and a nice opportunity to get out of Jakarta for the day. A big thank you to Ken, Gratiana, and her family for inviting us to their house country house and for the amazing food. Bali is an Indonesian street food lovers paradise! SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week► 🤍 T-shirts► 🤍 Special thank you to Made for driving us around! Bali is an amazing place to eat - there are so many incredible dishes, and the unique Balinese culture paired with the food is what makes it so special. In this Indonesian street food tour of Bali, I’m taking you to 6 street food stalls / restaurants in a row, for serious food lovers! Warung Nasi Bali Men Weti - Some consider this legendary stall, right along the ocean to be the best Balinese local street food spot in Denpasar, Bali, and after eating it, there’s absolutely no room for argument. The plate of food you’ll be served is nothing short of spectacular, full of Balinese flavor. Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) per plate Warung Mak Beng - Known for their fried fish set, Warung Mak Beng is another legendary Balinese restaurant. Their fish was amazing, both the fish head soup and the fried fish, and not forgetting their amazing sambal. Another must eat when you’re in Bali. Price - 45,000 IDR ($3.29) per set Sate Plecing Arjuna - This is a place you come to eat sate plecing, a type of Indonesian street food sate that’s covered in a shrimp paste chili sambal. They were incredibly delicious as well, especially the samel. Total price - 68,000 IDR ($4.98) Sate Babi Bawah Pohon - In Bali, pork is very common, and this is probably one of the most well known Indonesian street food stalls in all of Bali. For me the pork sate was a little on the sweet side, however it was still pretty tasty. Price - 25,000 IDR ($1.83) Babi Guling Pak Dobiel - When it comes to Balinese food, there’s nothing more famous to try than babi guling, Balinese style roast pig served with all the side dishes. It’s spectacular combination and you’ll find dozens of restaurants serving babi guling. In this Balinese food tour I went to Babi Guling Pak Dobiel, and it’s the best plate of babi guling I had in Bali. Total price - 100,000 IDR ($7.32) for 2 Warung Kintamani - Ubud - Finally, to finish off this Balinese food tour, we headed back to Ubud and Made, took me to eat mujair nyatnyat, tilapia in a curry sauce. It was awesome delicious, a perfect way to end this Indonesian street food tour of Bali. Today we are starting the Indonesian Food tour in PADANG city, the capital of West Sumatra, and home to delicious MINANGKABAU culture and cuisine! Let’s eat! We are starting our food tour at the beautiful Grand Mosque of West Sumatra before going to a restaurant serving Padang’s most notable dish (or dishes): NASI PADANG! We tasted lots of different rich flavours and different Indonesian spices. Nasi Pandang is a great way to sample lots of different Sumatran dishes. Our entire meal with drinks cost: Rp. 136.400 (USD $9.67). Padang City is coastal and that means delicious and fresh seafood. We went to a local restaurant nearby for IKAN BAKAR (grilled fish). We ordered a grouper that was marinated in spicy sambal and grilled to perfection. Inside the restaurant, we were given a few small dishes similar to Nasi Padang and a plate of rice. The fish was fresh and quite meaty! Our entire meal cost: Rp. 81.000 (USD $5.74). We wanted to experience a traditional market in West Sumatra so we visited Pasar Pagi Juanda. It looked like we were a little late to visit the market, which is bustling in the morning, but we got to sample some of Padang’s local fruits like Langsat! It was time to cool down with a unique drink found in Padang known as Teh Telur (egg tea). What makes this drink very special is that it is made with egg yolk and served with a slice of lime, which you squeeze into the tea. It is sour, bitter and sweet all at the same time. Although it was not our favorite, it was worth a try! The drink cost: Rp. 14.000 each (USD $0.99). Watching the sunset on one of Padang’s many beaches is popular with tourists and locals alike. Many of the beaches have small drink and food stalls that you can enjoy at the beach, while sitting under an umbrella. We ordered a hot black tea and a hot orange drink (which tasted like Fanta) and enjoyed the sounds of the waves until night time. It was unfortunately raining, but we stayed dry under the umbrella. The drinks cost: Rp. 5000 - 10.000 (USD $0.35 - $0.71). Something that is common across all of Indonesia is a night time specialty: MARTABAK. Martabak is a thick dough, slathered in butter and stuffed with various ingredients. You can choose between savoury martabak and sweet martabak. We ordered a savoury beef martabak (MARTABAK MESIR) that’s stuffed with various vegetables and served with a spicy soy sauce. These stalls become packed at night time and it is best to visit late at night. Our martabaks cost: Rp. 20.000 each (USD $1.56). Addresses and Information: 1 - The Grand Mosque of West Sumatra Jl. Untuk subtitle Bahasa Indonesia, tekan "CC" kemudian pilin pengaturan dan pilin "Indonesian." Indonesia is known for its flavorful dishes. In this episode, we hit the streets searching for one of the best traditional Indonesian food: Nasi Goreng. We love eating street food, and so far, Jakarta does not disappoint. We have had many dishes with nasi goreng, so why did we seek out this one? It came highly reviewed online and by many others. We were surprised to find that this version of nasi goreng has its own unique flavor. Kelly enjoyed the vegetarian version of this dish, while everyone else had goat (kambing) in theirs, along with kambing sate skewers. Of course, Forest wanted his favorite krupuk. After dinner, we get fresh coconut water before immersing ourselves in the busy nightlife of Jakarta. In this episode I visit an Authentic Indonesian restaurant located in South Philly. D'Jakarta Cafe 1540 W Ritner Street, Philadelphia was quite an amazing experience. This southeast asian spot can be considered one of the best places to eat in South Philly in my opinion. This tasted more of a home cooked meal since the Mom is the head cook and perfected all of her recipe. I've gotten the fried rice which had shrimp, chinese sausage and tofu, the Chicken stick sate with the peanut sauce and the Redang platter which has several choices on the dish. Redang had the braised beef which was super tender and flavorful, fried shrimp over boiled eggs, coconut tofu and potatoes and some sort of curry. This def exceeded my expectations and wanted me to keep eating more. I highly recommend this Indonesian place. Oh may I not forget to get their martabak-like dessert. Cheese, nutella, sprinkles and condensed milk served on a thick toasted bread. An experience like no other. Untuk subtitle Bahasa Indonesia, tekan "CC" kemudian pilin pengaturan dan pilin "Indonesian." If you want Indonesian comfort food, you MUST try chicken porridge (bubur ayam). Eating this rice porridge, also known as congee, is a delicious way to start your day. This restaurant, rated highly on Trip Advisor, gives a generous bowl of rice porridge topped with shredded chicken, fried crackers, and chunks of fried bread. Then, you get to add your own kecap manis (soy sauce reduction), soy sauce, hot chile sauce (sambal), and white pepper. Make this dish as simple or spicey as you want. You can order a bowl of plain congee (bubur putih) if you have dietary restrictions or picky eaters in your family. We also enjoyed this meal with orange juice (jurek), Forest’s favorite! —————————————————— 📧 CONNECT WITH US » Business Inquiries — hello🤍bagspackedfamily.com 📱GET MORE CONTENT » Instagram — 🤍 » Facebook — 🤍 🎵 COPYRIGHT FREE MUSIC » 🤍 🌏 AIRBNB » 🤍 🗺 BOOK YOUR HOTEL » 🤍 📸 CAMERA GEAR » Camera — 🤍 » Mod — 🤍 » Grip — 🤍 » Wind Blocker — 🤍 —————————————————— ABOUT US We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. Lombok is an amazing place for spicy Indonesian food! ►SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos per week: 🤍 ►T-shirts: 🤍 I didn’t have too much time to travel in Lombok (though I’d love to visit again), but I really wanted to visit Tetebatu, at the base of the volcano one day. So we hired a car for the day and drove there, taking some stops to eat some legendary spicy Lombok Indonesian food along the way. Inaq Dellah - This is the original restaurant in Lombok to eat Ayam Rarang, what I found out is one of the greatest stews I think I’ve ever had in my life. It’s basically just a pure chili stew, made with chicken. It’s so unbelievably flavor and packed with Lombok chili spice. Total price - 180,000 IDR ($13.14) Tetebatu, Lombok Waterfall entrance - 20,000 IDR ($1.46) - We arrived to Tetebatu, and paid the small entrance fee to enter the waterfall. The waterfall was worth a visit, nothing too big, but I always enjoy walking through water on a hike to reach a waterfall. Nasi Puyung at Nasi Balap Puyung Inaq Esun - One of the most legendary of Lombok Indonesian food dishes is nasi puyung. Again, we went out of our way to seek out the original. It’s a combination of fried shredded chicken, mixed with a heap of curry chili paste. It doesn’t really look that spicy, but it’s pretty amazingly spicy, I loved it. It’s kind of a 3 am kind of dish. Total price - 88,000 IDR ($6.42) for 3 All day car and guide - I paid 700,000 IDR ($51.10), and Belen was a great guy, and the owner of 🤍 highly recommended (this is not sponsored, I paid). This was an amazing day trip in Lombok, and along with crazy spicy delicious Indonesian Lombok food, the sightseeing was spectacular as well. Lombok is a gorgeous island! *CAMERA GEAR* I used to make this video (these are affiliate links): Main camera: 🤍 Main lens: 🤍 2nd lens: 🤍 Microphone: 🤍 Gorillapod: 🤍 I would love to connect with you!
